The water current is generally very gentle and the visibility is good, offering perfect conditions for beginner divers. The waters around the Gili islands are full of turtles and if you are lucky, you will encounter other special and larger reef visitors. The southern part of the island offers a remote alternative for relaxed reef diving. The reefs are home to a variety of rare marine life with bright soft corals and colourful crinoids.
Diving in Sumbawa is often underestimated in its abundance and mistakenly overlooked. Sumbawa features excellent dive sites and has its own vast schools of numerous peculiar fish in the 40m deep walled sections, such as: triggerfish, butterfly fish, trevallies and tunas.
These vibrant vertical walls of the outer reefs of Moyo island, are festooned with sponges and soft corals. The visibility is typically very good. Plunge into the water right off the boat to enjoy some excellent underwater sights. We promise you’ll find enough reasons to love this area.
The islands making up west Flores has something to offer for all dive levels. The seas are relatively shallow but there are also fast currents and tidal changes due to an impact of Pacific ocean and Indian ocean waters. But the upwellings from the deep surrounding seas bring nutrients and plankton to keep these waters rich and well-fed, giving the perfect conditions for some spectacular diving. The lagoon above the reef have pretty coral gardens with colourful fish, sponges, Napoleon wrasse, groupers and much more to see. The current breaks on the eastern or western tip of the mountain and attracts huge numbers of predatory pelagic fish including giant trevally, oceanic white tip sharks, rainbow runners and barracuda. The bommie has a sheltered coral garden in the lee of the summit which has a very fishy coral garden that’s one of the best in Indonesia.
